Wild Sensibility - a blog about the natural world, dogs, and writing

I’m always evolving and reinventing myself. Keeps things fresh and interesting! To that end, I’ve created a new blog called Wild Sensibility, replacing Dog Lessons. Take a peek. Here’s the new blog’s introduction.

The most regretful people on earth are those who felt the call to creative work, who felt their own creative power restive and uprising, and gave to it neither power nor time.

I'm beginning a new adventure: writing a book I'm titling Wild Sensibility. Themes include exploring nature, wilderness, wildlife, dogs, resilience, and finding redemption in wild places. This book idea has been swirling in my brain for years. It's time to give it wings, see if it can fly.

Writing is a solitary pursuit, with many struggles. I've published one book (Growing Up Boeing: The Early Jet Age Through the Eyes of a Test Pilot's Daughter; 2014), so I know what lies ahead. I'm excited, and daunted. By sharing thoughts, ideas and stories relating to the new book's themes, ruminations on the process of writing, and eventually excerpts ready for beta reader feedback, I hope to gain insights and receive motivation from readers.

Some days the words flow, other days I'm lucky to produce what writer Anne Lamott calls a shitty first draft. Then there are the times when life events steal my words altogether. It's a roller-coaster. Subscribe below to tag along for the ride, getting notified when I add new posts. And thank you for reading.

Follow my blog at Wild Sensibility and on Facebook. Thank you!
